Medium-Long hair styles?

Hi everyone, my school kinda has a strict policy on hair, saying that (for boys) it may not touch the collar of our uniform shirts (regular polos). However i want to grow my hair long, its allways been a dream of mine. Once it is at a certain length I can definitely put it in a pony tail which would circumvent the policy , but until then I need some hairstyles for that "transition " length of hair that would look somewhat cool and would keep the hair off of my collar. Any advice is appreciated.
