College Placement Math Exam?? I FAILED?

So I'm going to be a freshman at Purdue and I took their placement test, only about 35 questions, it took me an hour and I felt like I knew more than 70% and that I actually did well. Although I've never really done great in math, Igot a B- in honors Algebra and an A in college prep pre calc. I also got a 610 on my SAT math portion- so i'm not special needs or anything. But after I took the test I was shocked to get a 43!? Is this normal?? I took the test again and got a 33... so I have no idea what to do or what this means. I know that I"ll be in a really low level math class but i'm not retarded.. i guess i'm just confused
